It’s St. Patrick’s Day! If you’re not wearing green, watch out or you’ll get pinched! Or is that no longer a tradition? I remember getting pinched a lot in school, but not so much anymore. It’s not that I have a problem wearing green, it’s just not usually in the rotation for That particular day—simply because I forget about it! Maybe it’s because I don’t have much Irish in me?
In any case, this is just one of the few holidays of the year designed for fun and frolicking. It wasn’t always that way. It started out as a religious holiday but was deemed a public holiday in 1903. In Ireland, they get the day off, but I wonder… in light of the “celebratory” nature of the holiday, perhaps the wiser move would be to give them the Next day off. What do you think?
