For me, this holiday remains one of the most notable days of the year. Today is the day we honor those who have honored us with their ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Memorial Day is for those died while serving in the military. It’s significant because men and women in the military already have the highest respect in my book, right along side police officers and teachers—those who protect us and those who educate us.
Military service is noble. Those who served can hold such a strong sense of pride and accomplishment, no matter what position they held. Their purpose as a cohesive unit, to support and defend our nation against all enemies, is all that matters. And for a soldier to die performing his or her duties, fulfilling the oath of allegiance so willingly sworn, is indeed worthy of the highest tribute we can bestow.
To all Veterans, past and present…Thank you.
